Hopper Remote Locator

We all hate losing the remote, but those elusive little devices often end up buried in couch cushions or under tables. Well, the search is over. With DISH’s Hopper, the most advanced set-top box on the market, a simple push of a button will locate your remote immediately.


On the front of your Hopper or Joey receiver there is a door. Pressing in on the door will make it come down and inside are the slot for your Smart Card and buttons for operating your receiver. As shown in the image above, the Locate Remote button is to the right of the select button, below the System Info and Jump buttons.

Simply pressing the Locate Remote button will cause the remote to flash and beep. Once you’ve found the remote, pressing any button will make the flashing and beeping stop.

Now that you won’t have to spend time hunting for your remote, you’ll have plenty more time to enjoy your superior service and entertainment from DISH!

Restore Backed Up Information to Your Hopper or Remote

You can use your remote to backup your remote and Hopper or Joey settings in case you ever need to replace your equipment. It takes only 5 steps to backup your information, and just a few more to restore it. Much quicker and easier than reprogramming everything on your receiver or remote!

1. Press “Menu”

Press the menu button on the top left corner of the remote.

2. Select Settings

On the Main Menu select the Settings tile in the bottom left corner.

3. Select Diagnostics

In the Settings Menu select the Diagnostics tile in the middle of the bottom row.

4. Select System Wizard

In the Diagnostics Menu select the Systam Wizard tile, which is the second to last from the right.

5. Select Restore

On the System Wizard screen there are three blue buttons on the right of the screen, select the bottom button that says Restore.

6. Select Device to Restore

On the Restore screen press the left arrow button to navigate to the options in the middle of the screen. Select which device you would like to restore, remote or receiver. Press the right arrow button to navigate back to the blue buttons on the right of the screen.

6. Select Restore

On the Restore screen select the bottom blue button labeled Restore to restore the settings of the device you selected in step 5.

Use Your Remote to Backup Hopper Settings

Receivers and remotes can fail, and DISH’s backup feature can help reduce the headache of replacing your equipment by allowing you to reconfigure your new receiver or remote easily and quickly.

1. Press “Menu”

Press the menu button on the top left corner of the remote.

2. Select Settings

On the Main Menu select the Settings tile in the bottom left corner.

3. Select Diagnostics

In the Settings Menu select the Diagnostics tile in the middle of the bottom row.

4. Select System Wizard

In the Diagnostics Menu select the Systam Wizard tile, which is the second to last from the right.

5. Select Backup

On the System Wizard screen there are three blue buttons on the right of the screen, select the middle button that says Backup.

In just 5 steps you can backup all of your receiver and remote settings. In the event that you need to replace your equipment, you’ll be able to restore your settings and get everything up and running right away! No need to worry about setting everything up again. Your home entertainment set up will be exactly how you want it in minutes! This procedure backs up your settings as of the time of backup, if you change any of your settings and would like to maintain those changes if the equipment is replaced you will need to back up again.

Set Your DISH Remote to Satellite Auto Tune

A black, blue or snowy screen on your TV2 for your DISH Network duo receiver can be very frustrating, and with your DISH remote it’s entirely preventable. Here are easy step-by-step instructions on how to program your DISH remote to automatically change to the correct channel for DISH service when you press the SAT mode button.

1) At the top of your DISH Network remote are four mode buttons. Locate the TV mode button – second from the left – and press and hold it. 2) Hold the TV mode button until all of the other mode buttons light up, like in the image above.
3) Press the star (*) button, located on the bottom left of the number pad. 4) The TV mode button will light up.
5) Enter in the channel number your TV2 is supposed to be on for DISH Network service. 6) The TV mode button will light up.
7) Press the pound button to program the channel to your remote. 8) The TV mode button will flash three times.

Now when you press the SAT mode button at the top of your remote, it will not only put your remote in SAT mode so it’s ready to use with your DISH service, but also make sure your TV is on the correct channel.

DISH World Equipment: In Depth Look

DISH World is an exciting new IPTV service available from DISH Network! By simply connecting the DISH World receiver to your television and high speed modem or router you’ll be able to enjoy the best in international programming.

When you order DISH World you receive the following equipment:

  • Receiver
  • Remote
  • AC Adapter
  • HDMI Cable
  • RCA Composite Audio/Video Cable
  • Ethernet Cable
  • S-Video Cable
  • Wireless Network Access Adapter

On the front of the receiver:

  1. Power light: this amber light turns on when the receiver is connected to a power source.
  2. LAN light: this yellow light turns on when the receiver receives data via the ethernet cable.
  3. WLAN light: this blue light turns on when the receiver receives data via a wireless network.

On the back of the receiver:

  1. Power Jack
  2. S-Video, for using an S-Video cable to connect the receiver to your TV
  3. Y/Pb/Pr Component, also known as Red/Blue/Green Component cables, for HD picture
  4. CVBs Video for standard definition, most often seen on RCA composite cables
  5. Audio terminal
  6. USB port, can be used to connect the Wireless Network Access Adapter if your receiver cannot be placed near your modem or router
  7. HDMI port, carries HD video and digital sound, unlike with the S-Video, component and composite video cables you will not need to use the audio terminal when using HDMI cable
  8. LAN port, for connecting your receiver to your modem or router via ethernet cable.

The buttons on the DISH World remote, from left to right and top to bottom:

     

  • Power, this puts the receiver into standby mode and will turn your TV on and off.
  • A, this will take you to the setting screen.
  • Home, this returns you to the main screen.
  • B, not currently used.
  • C, not currently used.
  • D, will stop playing the current content.
  • FAV, takes you to your list of favorite channels and is used to set channels as favorites in the guide.
  • GUIDE, brings up the program guide.
  • CC, not currently used.
  • REWIND, used to rewind content.
  • PLAY, used to play content.
  • FAST FORWARD, used to fast forward through content.
  • STOP, stop current content.
  • PAUSE, pauses the content.
  • SELECT and ARROW BUTTONS, used to navigate and select on screen menus.
  • BACK, moves back one page when applicable.
  • NEXT, moves forward one page when applicable.
  • VOL, turns the volume up and down.
  • MUTE, mutes the sound.
  • INFO, shows information on the current content.
  • CH, turns the channels up and down.
  • 1-9, used to switch channels for live TV.
  • SHIFT, used to display additional characters when using the on-screen keyboard such as symbols and numbers.
  • DELETE, not currently used.
