What is a duo receiver?

A duo receiver is a single DISH receiver that controls control two televisions in your home. The receiver is placed with one TV, known as TV1, and then cabling is used to connect it to another TV in your home, known as TV2. Duo receivers are a convenient way to bring telelvision into a room that doesn't have space for a receiver, and helps simplify your home theater set up. Duo receivers are available in HD and with DVR capabilities.

What do I need to get HD programming?

In order to enjoy HD programming you will need to have an HDTV, an HD DISH receiver, HD cabling (which a DISH technician will use when installing your HD receiver) and HD programming.

What is a DVR?

A DVR is a digital video recorder, it allows you to record live television to play back at a later date. This makes it easy to watch your favorite shows when you want to, and to skip past commercials and advertisements. What is a Sling?

A Sling adapter is a simpled device you can plug in to your DISH receiver (the ViP 922 comes equipped with an internal Sling adapter) that allows you to take your TV Everywhere. You can watch live TV and recordings from your DVR on your iDevice (iPhone, iPod or iPad), Android, smartphone or any other internet connected device.

What is the Hopper?

The all new DISH Hopper is a whole-home HD DVR system that allows you to record and watch live TV in up to four rooms in your house. The Hopper is the main device that is installed in the main entertainment center in your home, and then for each room you want to bring service to you can add a small set-top box called a Joey. What is Prime Time Anytime?

Prime Time Anytime is a new feature with the DISH Hopper that you can set to automatically record all four networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX) during prime time hours on one tuner and keep them for up to 8 days following. You can save the shows you want to keep for longer than 8 days to your DVR, but unless you do it doesn't use up any of the 2 terrabytes of personal space available on the Hopper.

How does the remote locator work?

A button is available on the front of the Hopper and Joey that you can press to make your remote make a noise so you can quickly locate it.

What is SRS TruVolume?

Volume fluctuations between channels and during commercials can be annoying. With SRS TruVolume on you DISH receiver you don't have to worry about turning the volume up and down as it prevents drastic fluctuations.
