NFL Dish

Philadelphia (-6.5) at Dallas — 8:30PM NBC (52.5 +/-)

This is the marquee game of the finale weekend in the NFL, “flexed” this week into the primetime spot. The winner is the NFC East champ and will take  the #4 seed in the playoffs, and the loser will likely go home for the year. Romo is likely out, swinging Vegas over 8 points in this one — Philadelphia was a 2.5 dog until Romo was ruled out by team doctors in Dallas. The oddsmakers do still expect a high-flying showdown with the total in the 50s.

Carolina (-6) at Atlanta — 1:00PM FOX  (45.5 +/-)

This game secures Carolina’s shot at the #2 spot in the NFC and a first-week bye. On paper Carolina should win this easily but Atlanta and Matt Ryan have always given the Panthers trouble, especially in Atlanta. Expect the Falcon’s stingy D to keep this one close, and keep an eye out on that 45 over/under.

Baltimore (+6.5) at Cincinnati — 1:00PM CBS (44.5 +/-)

Both teams come into this one with playoff implications on the line. Baltimore is currently at #7 in the AFC and needs a win (and Miami loss) to get the last Wild Card spot. Cincinnati needs a win to stay above the Colts for the #3 seed. Flacco is still ailing, and neither offense has produced much lately, but either coach will be going all out in this one.

NY Jets (+5.5) at Miami — 1:00PM CBS (41 +/-)

Miami likely has to win to secure a Wild Card spot behind the Patriots in the AFC East. With two young QBs and pretty decent defenses, you’re not likely to see a lot of scoring in South Beach this weekend. Dolphins coach Joe Philbin will no doubt go with a conservative game plan, unafraid of an offense run by Geno Smith in New York. Expect Miami to keep it on the ground and shorten the game.

Buffalo (+8.5) at New England — 4:25PM CBS (47 +/-)

Brady and the Pats can steal another #1 over seed if they can pull out the win over the Bills on Sunday. Manuel has looked at points this year but will struggle against the Patriot’s blitzes. Brady will eventually pick Buffalo apart and Belichick and company could make this one ugly by the fourth, as New England no doubt wants to make Peyton Manning leave Denver in the playoffs.
